“Intervening on the Financial Toxicity of Cancer Care”

Cancer treatment has become more expensive over the past decade, sometimes costing tens of thousands of dollars a month. In many cases, a growing portion of these costs are being shifted to patients, resulting in treatment-related financial distress. Due to insurmountable bills, patients experience worse quality of life, adherence, and outcomes. What can we do to reduce the financial toxicity of cancer care? The solution involves policy-, provider-, and patient-level interventions.
