only: Connor Auditorium (FLTC)

Abstract: T
ranscription factor (TF) binding locations can be mapped using methods such
as ChIP-Seq or Calling Cards and the functional targets of a TF can be ide
ntified by perturbing the TF and measuring changes in gene expression. Howe
ver\, it has long been known\, across many organisms and datasets\, that th
e agreement between binding locations and perturbation responses is extreme
ly poor. Identifying the direct\, functional targets of TFs is essential fo
r understanding how DNA sequence gives rise to phenotypes. In this talk\, I
will present an integrated analysis of multiple datasets\, including new C
alling Cards data\, to shed light on this discrepancy and propose strategie
s for predicting perturbation responses from TF binding locations.
